Art bead earring challenge, reveal #2

Esfera Jewelry with bronze from Theatoo and Czech glass

The Art Jewelry Elements team is hosting a year-long Earring Challenge in 2013.
Participants will sign up for 13 weeks at a time to make one pair of earrings every week with an art bead or component that was made by another bead artist or by one's own hands!
When we post the earrings, we then give credit to the artist that made the bead or component.

Second reveal

Today is the second reveal. And to be honest, I’ve struggled a bit.

It was clear to me that my third pair of earrings had to be made with the beautiful beads from Heather Powers of Humblebeads. She is so talented. I own several of her gorgeous beads. But until now I haven’t created much with them. Just looked at them and drooled (“precious…my precious). I simply could not part with them. Yes, I know, I am a terrible bead hoarder.

But what to combine these lovely beads with.

I noticed the beads I wanted to use had a little bit of green in them, which sadly is not very clear to see in the picture. And I happen to have hemp cord in the same color. Yes, I am not only a bead hoarder, I am a cord hoarder as well.

I decided to knot the hemp into a cord to suspend the bead from. And I’m very pleased with the result.

Fourth pair

My other pair of art bead earrings feature bronze components from the very talented UK artist Lesley Watt from THEAtoo. Not only does she design just the most amazing jewelry, she creates gorgeous bronze components as well.

As I miss traveling a lot and would love to be back in India or Nepal right now (instead of being in rainy and cold Holland) I thought, why not create something colorful, which reminds me of the amazing colors of these countries.

I added a green patina to the bronze. The larger brass rings are wire wrapped with just the sweetest, tiniest, Czech glass in orange and yellow. Above the bronze a tiny red/orange Czech flower.

These earrings are of course for sale in my etsy shop.
